Character Personality:

"I challenge my fate!"

Lucina is a young princess who was unfortunately raised in a world of violence. Not only does this include the warfare that her country of Ylisse is plunged into right after her birth, but also the grim fate that her timeline had experienced through the awakening of the Fell Dragon, Grima. The course of events that she lived through were extremely traumatic; not only was every member of the Ylissan army slaughtered by Risen, but her mother and father were as well. Lucina seems especially shaken by the death of the latter parent, seeing as she and Chrom had a very close relationship as she was growing up. When given the chance by Naga to enter a time long before Grima had a chance to wreak havoc on the world, Lucina takes the opportunity without hesitation. The most important goal for her is to change the outcome of the future by leading Chrom and the Avatar away from decisions that could lead towards an unfavourable outcome. Her determination is unparalleled by many of the other children; so much so that at times she comes off as much more cold and serious than she actually is.

"I just want a brighter future. I can deal with any hardship now in exchange."

The constant push to change the fate of the world is what drives Lucina to keep moving on, even if that means hurting herself in the process. At the beginning of the game's plot, she even makes an effort to hide her identity from Chrom in order to stay as emotionally distant as possible. However, this doesn't work for long as Chrom is able to deduce that something about her is familiar. Her unconditional love for her father causes her emotional "mask" to shatter as she sobs into his arms and reveals herself as his daughter from the future. From then on as a character, Lucina is willing to both kill and give her own life for the sake of keeping everyone alive for a peaceful future. The emotional turmoil that comes with this resolve is momentous, but she tries her hardest to hide it behind a stoic personality. Still, there are times where her bonds with others make it difficult to keep her emotions at bay. When confronted with the choice of killing the Avatar, she is unable to do so because of either the love that she has for them as a daughter or a lover, or because she knows that their death would devastate her father. She even believes herself to be a burden on her father by arriving from the future, and hearing that she is welcome in this timeline and in his heart is enough to make her cry as well.

"How could anyone do something so cruel to these poor people? I can only hope this will bring you some measure of peace... And rest assured I will cut down the man responsible for this atrocity!"

As a noble, Lucina doesn't exactly fit the trope of a "traditional princess". Being raised in a world of misfortune and war has prevented her from living a life of lavishing and flowing dresses, but instead trading that lifestyle for a suit of armor and a sword. Her sense of justice is very concrete, and she is passionate about doing the right thing in quiet and mature way, compared to the loud, justice-obsessed personalities of Cynthia and Owain. She will kill in order to achieve the outcome that she desires, but still dislikes death in all of it's forms - even if it must happen for the greater good. However, she will tend to put her father on a pedestal above other people, prioritizing his safety over that of everyone else, much to his dismay. Chrom's willingness to sacrifice himself for the good of the world is a constant worry for Lucina, but she always trusts his judgement and decisions once he is fully informed of the outcome it may have.

"I'm just happy for the company and laughter. It's still a new feeling."

Lucina may be all frowns and seriousness from a distance, but when she is interacting with close friends and family, it's easy for her more playful, childish side to make an appearance. For example, her supports with her mother showcase her enthusiasm to pick out a new dress for her (despite her awful fashion sense), and her supports with Chrom show her more sneaky side by tricking him into practicing with her. Lucina isn't exactly used to having such a light atmosphere around her where people can act freely and have fun, so it takes some time for her to open up and enjoy herself. Her sense of humour is described as being very dry and unable to "get" a regular joke, but something that manages to get a laugh out of her will do so very potently. Sometimes she forgets to have fun every once and awhile, but the upbeat personalities of her friends and comrades are able to help her smile when she needs it the most.

"I often gaze at the stars. They seem brighter now than they did in the future."

All in all, Lucina is a princess who has taken the challenge of changing the future onto her shoulders. Despite the risks that she knew would come with travelling to a time different from her's, she was willing to do so with the support of her friends, the love of her parents, and the resolve to create a better life for herself and for the rest of the world.

Character Abilities: Lucina starts off as a Lord when she is recruited, and can upgrade to the Great Lord class upon reaching Level 10, similar to her father. They have all-around good stats (with an advangage in high HP and a disadvantage in low Magic) and are usually considered the most important class on the battlefield. As a Great Lord she has the ability to wield swords and lances, but prefers to use the former. She has the ability to inherit other abilities through reclassing and from her mother and father.

Waking up at the crack of dawn was a routine practice for Lucina, even before she traveled from the future to this timeline. Early morning was a common time for invasions from Plegian forces and waves of Risen, so Lucina quickly learned to become a morning person. Despite the safety that morning had in this timeline, the habit still stayed with her as she woke up in her tent. Sleeping in felt like it would be lazy and counterproductive - two things Lucina prided herself on not being.

After getting dressed in her armor and completing her usual morning routine, she strapped Falchion to her side and set out of her tent. Before leaving for the training grounds, however, she took the time to make a detour and silently make her way to her father and mother's tent. On mornings like this she never did more than take a peek inside - it would be childish to worm her way in and snuggle up with them, no matter how good of an idea that sounded. It simply brought her relief to see them sleeping peacefully, together and alive. Smiling softly, she returned the tent's flap to its original position and returned to making her way to her destination.

The training grounds were obviously desolate, the ground still wet with morning dew. Lucina was thankful that the grounds were a ways away from the tents, as it meant that she could be as loud in her training as she wanted without disturbing the rest of the army. After unsheathing Falchion and choosing a target dummy to attack, she took a deep breath and lunged for the first slash of the day.

She needed to stay strong for her family and for the world, and training alone was the only way she could release the pain of the loss she experienced in her timeline. Hopefully one day the sting of death would wear away from her heart.
